What We Do

Not being an organisation that likes to stand still, in 2019 we launched 3 new initiatives, a Radio Station, Community Workshop, and a Community Café, alongside our longstanding annual Fossil Festival with another project our Farmers' Market in the pipeline for 2020

Lyme Regis Workshed

Pleased to say we are back in business!!

We are very excited to have this project underway. Our Community Workshop is about teaching woodturning and basic carpentry skills to those that are interested in learning and developing new practical skills. Built and run entirely by volunteers, we hope that having this amazing resource and space will encourage anybody with an interest to come along and be part of it.

The Workshop is fully equipped with all the equipment and machines to complete woodturning and carpentry projects for beginners right through to intermediate and we hope, possibly even professional standard.

The workshop is for those that are not fortunate enough to have space and equipment where they live and there may be others that want to come to the workshop because they want to work alongside others.

Lyme Bay Radio

Another very exciting project for us! 18 months in the planning, we secured funds for this towards the end of 2019 and became ready to start building the radio studio at The Hub, in Lyme Regis that is home to our community radio station.

Lyme Bay Radio is a new Digital radio station that is designed and operated by the community and a team of volunteers. It aims to reflect the needs of the community so, alongside music, there are also documentaries about our area and involvement from various community groups.

Launch date 1st of March 2020

The team are very open to ideas especially when they are community based, so please get in touch with the team.

The Old School House

In September 2019 we opened our doors to The Old School House, our community cafe for the first time.

The Community Café is a joint project with Community based organisation LymeForward.

We launched the cafe with a regular coffee and cake session and we are now taking some time to brainstorm it's next phase. ideas for the future include a milkshake shack, street food events and a partnership with our residents , Foodbank, to produce lunchtime specials.

It has also become a safe space for various support groups to meet, e.g the Carers café and Death café.

Look out for events on our upcoming calendar.

The Lyme Regis Fossil Festival

Lyme Regis Farmers' Market

Our fabulous Lyme Regis Farmers' Market is held on the second Friday of the month in the Marine Parade Shelters.

We proudly bring together local producers, makers and growers from a 30 mile radius to create a diverse and fantastic shopping experience!

We think Lyme Regis is the perfect place for this eclectic mix of traders and products and gives shopper the opportunity to find unique businesses and produce that they you might not see anywhere else, all in one place!

Although we have called our event a 'farmers' market' and strive to include all the typical things you might find at one (bread, fruit and veg, cheese and preserves) we are also welcoming local designers and makers to our event to create a rich and vibrant mix to showcase all the wonderful talent there is right on our doorstep.
