What We Do

Not being an organisation that likes to stand still, in 2019 we launched 3 new initiatives, a Radio Station, Community Workshop, and a Community Café, alongside our longstanding annual Fossil Festival with another project our Farmers' Market in the pipeline for 2020

Lyme Regis Workshed

We are very excited to have this project underway. Our Community Workshop is inspired by the MenShed organisation and aims to tackle loneliness and isolation that some may feel within our community. It is also about teaching new skills to those that may need them. Built and run entirely by volunteers, we hope that having this amazing resource and space will encourage anybody with an interest to come along and be part of it.

The Workshed will be a full working workshop with all the tools you are likely to find there. This will be a place that people from the community with basic skill can come to work and build their projects alongside others giving people the opportunity to share knowledge.

Some may not have the space to build and make where they live and there may be others that want to come to the workshed because they want to work along side others - things are a bit more fun when you can bounce ideas off of others and ask people for help. We also plan to run courses for others so that they may come and make use of the workshed also.

This project It is sponsored by Axminster Power Tools, and headed up by our Trustee Dot Wood. We are always happy to welcome new members. Please get in touch if you would like to find out more.

Lyme Bay Radio

Another very exciting project for us! 18 months in the planning, we secured funds for this towards the end of 2019 and became ready to start building the radio studio at The Hub, in Lyme Regis that is home to our community radio station.

Lyme Bay Radio is a new Digital radio station that is designed and operated by the community and a team of volunteers. It aims to reflect the needs of the community so, alongside music, there are also documentaries about our area and involvement from various community groups.

Launch date 1st of March 2020

The team are very open to ideas especially when they are community based, so please get in touch with the team.

The Old School House

In September 2019 we opened our doors to The Old School House, our community cafe for the first time.

The Community Café is a joint project with Community based organisation LymeForward.

We launched the cafe with a regular coffee and cake session and we are now taking some time to brainstorm it's next phase. ideas for the future include a milkshake shack, street food events and a partnership with our residents , Foodbank, to produce lunchtime specials.

It has also become a safe space for various support groups to meet, e.g the Carers café and Death café.

Look out for events on our upcoming calendar.
